NEW AMENDMENTS TO REGULATION E

New federal regulations have amended Regulation E, the federal law which covers Electronic Funds Transfers.  After August 15, 2010, Gladewater National Bank will need for you to Opt-In if you want us to try to pay everyday debit card and ATM transactions that would cause your account to be overdrawn, even if we may have done so in the past.  Examples of everyday debit card transactions would be when you pay for a purchase at a gas station, restaurant, grocery store, etc.  In fact, it would be most places that you use your debit card.  Using your debit card to authorize a payment of a recurring bill, such as your cell phone or utility bill, is not considered an everyday debit card transaction and is not covered under this amendment to Regulation E.

If you decide to Opt-In, we will try to cover your everyday debit card and ATM transactions regardless of the funds that exist in your account.  If we do elect to cover the overdraft, you will be saved the frustration and embarrassment of having your card declined at the gas station, restaurant, grocery store or ATM.  There is no fee to Opt-In to this protection.  However, there is a fee of $25 per item if we actually cover the overdraft for you.

If you decide not to Opt-In, you are telling the bank that you do not want us to try to cover your everyday debit card and ATM transactions when there are insufficient funds in your account.  You will not be charged an overdraft fee; however, your transaction will be declined if there are insufficient funds in your account.

Deciding whether or not to Opt-In to these overdraft services is an important decision.  We want to make certain that you have all of the necessary information to make an informed decision, please call us with any questions you have 903-845-5566 and let us know you want more information about these new regulations.
